FALL-WINTER 2014-15 SCHOOL COUNSELOR WORKSHOPS
The Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators is pleased to present the schedule of financial aid workshops this fall for high school,scholarship,access and career counselors. These workshops will prepare counselors to assist students and parents in applying for financial aid during the 2014-15 academic year.

Dates and locations for the workshops are listed in this pamphlet,along with contact information so that you may choose the workshop that is most convenient for you. Registration is FREE. Simple call or email the registration form (found on our website) to the contact person for the workshop you would like to attend.
VASFAA’s workshops are taught by financial aid professionals and provide the most recent information about completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); how awards are processed;federal,state and institutional aid programs;and how to address special circumstances.

The Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, VASFAA, began offering annual financial aid education programs for school counselors in the 1980’s. The purpose of the workshops has been to provide an annual update for school counselors on changing financial aid regulations
The workshops are organized by the VASFAA School and Community Relations Committee and are offered at no charge to counselors by volunteer sponsoring colleges and organizations.
Workshops cover the following topics and more:
- Regulatory Changes for 2015 on Eligibility
- The relationship between college admission, enrollment, major and financial aid eligibility
- Changes to the electronic FAFSA form
- How colleges calculate and award financial aid.
- Grants and Scholarships students will see in 2015
- Student Loan Program Update
- Loan Forgiveness Programs
